Polished pewter openwork. Secures to garment by way of a pin with locking safety catch.
In Celtic mythology dolphins were attributed with healing pwers and the image of people riding on their backs can still be found on some Celtic artefacts. Celtic seafarers, in particular, held dolphins in high regard and they became symbols of good luck, possibly because they were commonly seen during fair weather when the seas were calm. To the Celts, dolphins also represented rebirth, intelligence and friendship.
