Pewter pendant with embossed hieroglyph detail on adjustable black leather thong.

The cartouche represents a coiled rope tied at one end inside which people placed their names in hieroglyphs. Thus, they were under the protection of the sun god. A cartouche is commonly worn as an amulet to protect the wearer from trouble.
